Von der Idee zur Verwertung - "World IP Day" 2011

Am 26. April 2011, am weltweit zelebrierten World IP Day, lud die LES Österreich mit Unterstützung der Österreichischen Forschungsförderungsgesellschaft mbH (FFG) in das Haus der Forschung, um über Ideen und ihre Verwertung zu diskutieren.

Dr. Alexander Cizek (DLA Piper, Präsident LES Österreich) würdigte in seiner Eröffnungsrede die Rolle des World IP Day:

"Der World Intellectual Property Day wurde von der WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) im Jahr 2000 ins Leben gerufen, um die Rolle der Kreativen und Innovativen und ihren Beitrag zur Weiterentwicklung der Gesellschaft zu würdigen. Der 26. April war der Tag, an dem im Jahr 1970 die Konvention zur Gründung der WIPO in Kraft trat."

Mehr als 65 Teilnehmer folgten dann den spannenden Vorträgen von DI Dr. Daniel Herzog (aws) zu "Verwertungsstrategien - Chancen und Risiken für Erfinder", von Herrn Johann Kiss (K3P Innovations) zur "Cappuccino Technologie" und seinem Weg zu neuen ökologischen Innovationen, und weiters jenen von Univ. Ass. DI Dr. Meinhard Breiling über grünen Kunstschnee aus Wien.
Abgerundet wurde das Programm durch eine Darstellung "Was die FFG für Erfinder tun kann - Förderangebote der FFG" von Mag. Daniela Fabits (FFG) und einer sehr amüsanten Darstellung über Dos and Don'ts bei der Gestaltung von Geheimhaltungs- und Lizenzverträgen von RA Mag. Thomas Adocker (Schwarz Schönherr Rechtsanwälte).
Der akademische Teil der Veranstaltung klang mit einer lebhaften Diskussion der Vortragenden und des Auditoriums aus, die beim anschließenden Buffet noch eine lange Fortführung erfuhr.
Durch den Abend führte RA MMag. Sabine Fehringer (DLA Piper, Sekretär LES Österreich).

"LIZENZEN - ÖKONOMISCHE UND RECHTLICHE PARAMETER"

Am World IP Day lud LES Österreich in die TU Wien, um über ökonomische und rechtliche Parameter von Lizenzen zu diskutieren.
Mehr als 80 Teilnehmer informierten sich über die Registrierung von Lizenzen und über grenzüberschreitende Lizenzverträge. Nach den Vorträgen von Susanne Lang (Österreichisches Patentamt), Patentanwalt Daniel Alge (Sonn & Partner) sowie Rechtsanwalt Christian Gassauer-Fleissner und der Präsentation von Biotech Case Studies durch Daniel Alge folgte eine lebhafte Diskussion der Teilnehmer. Durch den Abend führten das LES Team Rechtsanwalt Alexander Cizek (Präsident), Rechtsanwältin Sabine Fehringer (Generalsekretärin) und Thomas Bereuter (Vizepräsident). Gemeinsam mit dem Gastgeber Peter Karg von der TU Wien freuten sich die Organisatoren über eine gelungene Veranstaltung.
Präsident Alexander Cizek: „Gerade im grenzüberschreitenden Bereich wird die Abschätzung der Chancen und Risiken rund um das Lizenzwesen immer komplexer. LES bietet ihren Mitgliedern wertvolle Tipps und Tricks sowie das geeignete Netzwerk zur Bewältigung dieser Herausforderungen.“

Technologieverwertung durch Lizensierung

LES Austria bietet erstmals den Einstiegskurs der Intellectual Asset Management Seminarreihe der Licensing Executives Society International in Österreich an. Im Rahmen dieses fünfteiligen Kurses werden die Grundlagen des geistigen Eigentums und der gewerblichen Schutzrechte, die Grundlagen der kommerziellen Verwertung durch Lizensierung, Optionen zur Ermittlung von Lizenzgebühren und Risiko Management im Zusammenhang mit Lizenzierung vermittelt und im Rahmen des Licensing games in einer Lizenzverhandlung angewendet.

Kosten: 390 EUR (90 EUR für Mitglieder der LES)

LESI 2012 Annual Conference in Auckland
1 April - 4 April 2012 | Auckland (New Zealand)

In 2012 the Kyoto Protocol will expire and the global licensing world will descend on Auckland, New Zealand to explore how innovation might be commercialised to "save the world" from threats such as disease, poverty, food shortages, over-population and environmental destruction.

The 2012 LESI Annual Conference will be a superb opportunity to network with other industry professionals and immerse yourself in the vibrant sights and sounds of New Zealand's largest city.

We are delighted to announce our keynote speakers: Francis Gurry, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization; and Gunter Pauli, serial entrepreneur, author of The Blue Economy and founder of the Zero Emissions Research Initiatives Foundation.

The Welcome Reception on Sunday, 1 April will be held at the Aotea Centre, an iconic landmark in the centre of the city. A traditional Maori Powhiri and accompanying ceremony will mark the official opening of the Conference before speaker Mark Stevenson takes to the stage.
Auckland's magnificent Town Hall will be the setting for the Conference Dinner the following evening. Against a backdrop of the largest Pipe Organ in the Southern Hemisphere, delicious New Zealand cuisine will be matched to fantastic New Zealand wines.

The social programme will culminate with the Gala Dinner on Tuesday, 3 April. This will truly be a night to remember! Orams Marine, with its awe-inspiring stacks of marine craft towering above the dining area, provides a stunning and memorable location to bid farewell to the City of Sails. The food and wine will be superb, and the entertainment among the best that New Zealand has to offer!

Topic Meeting - IP in Open Innovation - Barrier or Enabler - The Story so Far

When LES Benelux hosted the LES Pan European Conference in September 2008 in Amsterdam, the theme was “Open Innovation – The New Paradigm?”/ In the meantime this model has become more widespread but has it been a success to the point where the question mark could be removed? This event explores how things have progressed, what is working and what is not with particular reference to IP. We are delighted to be able to be co-hosting the event with KU Leuven Technology Transfer and to have had the help of KU Leuven Centre for Intellectual Property Rights in preparing the program. As you will see from the speaker panel, this promises to be a very interesting day reflecting the views and experiences of different stakeholders.

Topic meeting: Useful agreements for licensing and technology transfer practice

In daily practice, licensing and technology transfer means more than license agreements alone. Research may require collaborations, joint ventures or outsourcing; and companies and research institutions may choose to commercialize their technology by providing services rather than through out licensing. Also, products need to be manufactured, and the required materials and parts need to be secured from suppliers. And to bring products and services to the customer, it may be necessary to set up a distribution network, a system of local representation, or to create spin-offs/spin-outs or set up franchises. So this meeting looks beyond licensing to other types of agreements that are useful for licensing and technology transfer practice, such as collaboration, outsourcing and service agreements, manufacture and supply agreements, distribution and agency agreements, and setting up spin-offs/spin-outs and franchises for commercializing technologies, services or products. An ideal opportunity for practitioners to broaden their knowledge of these subjects and to learn from a panel of expert speakers with in-depth practical experience.
